On the morning of Monday, October 13, Livsreise hosted a group visiting the United States with OK Reiser Travel Agency in Kvinesdal, Agder County, Norway. They had begun their journey in New York on October 9, for the festivities associated with the arrival of the sloop Restauration. Next they stopped in Norway, La Salle County, Illinois, where the first permanent settlement was established in 1834. After visiting Livsreise they were scheduled for a tour of the Wisconsin State Capital building. On the grounds of the Capital there is a statue of Col. Hans Heg, a Norwegian immigrant who commanded the 15th Wisconsin regiment in the Civil War. This regiment was mostly made up of Norwegian immigrants, and all their commands were given in Norwegian.
