ART WALK Saturday in Stoughton
September 28 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
FREEAs an added feature of ART WALK Stoughton 2024, Livsreise is hosting an informal morning (10:00 AM- noon) of Norwegian folk music performed by master fiddler Karen Rebholz and her talented protege Lucy Jacobus. These ladies play bygdedans tunes, country dances that evolved in the isolated valleys of southern Norway, primarily the springar, halling, and gangar. They also play tunes used in traditional Norwegian weddings, and gamaldans, couples dance music from Europe that became popular in Norway in the 1800s.
Livsreise is #1 on the ART WALK map and a perfect place to start your walk about Stoughton’s historic downtown. Livsreise is also featuring an exhibit of hand-carved folk creatures and everyday people dressed in the folk dress of the mid-19th century. All carvings originated after Henning Engelsen started his business in 1947 in Rondane,Norway. He has since passed away but his family carries on the business today.
